The four-day workshop is a unique opportunity for Liberia to have an effective IMS that would underpin the country’s overall preparedness and response capability to oil spill incidents. Additionally, the workshop comes handy in buttressing efforts to finalize and put into operation Liberia’s Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP).
Every maritime regulatory authority is charged with the responsibility of creating a
coordinated-control system that would oversee its maritime domain and respond to
oil spill incidents under an effective Incident Management System (IMS).
The workshop would provide a complete overview of the incident management process. It would present an opportunity to test learning through exercise programs - a process that would allow the delegates to validate their new skill sets, while highlighting the country’s need to have an efficient national incident management plan.
