The Liberian Registry commemorated its 75th anniversary at Posidonia 2024, emphasizing its enduring collaboration with the Greek Shipping Community. The event spotlighted the substantial contributions of Greek shipowners to the Registry's development and its lasting legacy in maritime safety, security, and environmental protection. This milestone celebration underscored the pivotal role of the Greek Shipping Community in establishing Liberia as one of the largest and most trusted registries worldwide.
A central highlight of the anniversary was the recognition of the Liberian Maritime Training Institute's impact on local development. Founded by the Registry, the institute provides top-tier maritime education and job placement for Liberian youth, significantly benefiting the local economy. The Liberian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Liberia Maritime Authority, reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Registry and tackling global maritime challenges, including security and freedom of navigation.
In his address, Liberia Maritime Authority Commissioner/CEO Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe announced the imminent renewal of a cooperative maritime agreement with the People's Republic of China, which promises considerable cost savings for shipowners. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships between the Registry and shipowners, advocating for continued collaboration to uphold shared values of safety, security, and environmental protection. The speech concluded with appreciation for the global staff of the Liberian Registry and the Greek Shipping Community, expressing confidence in the Registry's future as a dynamic force in the maritime industry.
